Prodrive acquires stake in HCI Systems Limited

Prodrive is pleased to announce that it has acquired a stake in HCI Systems Ltd, designers and manufacturers of vehicle electrical/electronic systems and wiring harnesses.

HCI already manufactures systems for Prodrive, but this investment will enable both Prodrive to offer its customers a wider electrical system capability, whilst also introducing HCI’s customer base to the breadth of Prodrive’s engineering capability.

The Shropshire-based company, started by husband-and-wife team Mike and Sarah Tickner, has grown to be one of the leading providers for wiring harnesses and custom electronics in the motorsport, automotive, defence and marine sectors. As a result of its growth, HCI has recently expanded into new, larger premises near Telford.

Prodrive’s involvement will enable HCI to accelerate its growth over the next few years with the creation of 20 new positions. Prodrive will retain its existing internal capability of electrical assembly to make prototypes and small batch size wiring harnesses whilst using HCI for its production harness requirements.

The opportunity to acquire a stake in a business that has such a great reputation and already does lots of work for us and our existing customers, across the very highest levels of automotive and motorsport industries, is a good strategic fit. The partnership with HCI will allow us to focus on our core strengths whilst exposing new customers to both Prodrive and HCI. We very much welcome Mike, Sarah and their team to the Prodrive family.

David Richards, Prodrive Chairman

Adding Prodrive’s requirements to HCI’s already impressive order book is a fantastic opportunity for HCI to scale up and maximise its potential. Both Sarah and I are very proud of what our team at HCI have achieved over the past 11 years and it is a real pat on the back for us to be recognised by David and the team at Prodrive. We very much look forward to growing the company together.

Mike Tickner, HCI Systems Director
